Ownership

Absa Asset Management is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Absa Group. In 2004, Absa Group concluded a broad-based black economic empowerment transaction with the Batho Bonke consortium, of which Mvelaphanda Group is one of the key shareholders.

A greater contribution

Absa Asset Management's earnings contribute to the very successful ABSA foundation that is widely recognised for its valuable contribution to the communities of South Africa. The foundation is funded by ABSA at a rate of 2% of declared dividends per annum. Since 1994 approximately R100 million has been invested in key projects and partnerships that are making significant strides in the areas of education, job creation and health in previously disadvantaged communities.

The Independent Corporate Care Check survey nominated ABSA as one of South Africa's top five "excellent corporate citizens."
